At the heart of much speculative fiction (and fiction in general) is a question. What if? Occasionally, I like to throw one out there and see what you make of it. Do with it as you please. If a for-instance is not specified, feel free to interpret that instance as you wish. And if you find this becomes a novel-length answer, I'd appreciate a thank you in the acknowledgements ;)
What if your very favorite thing in the world suddenly became the most tedious thing you can imagine? (Suddenly, as in you planned it yesterday, but today the idea of it bores you to tears.)
Today's A to Z Challenge post brought to you by the letter...

This reminds me of the advice of not getting a job directly related to your hobby or you'll end up hating it. I guess there is a fine line regarding the suggestion to "do what you love". Best wishes, Darla M. Sands
Awakening Dreams and Conquering Nightmares with a Pen
Thankfully, not much bores me. If I don't like something, I don't do it. It's a wisdom that comes with age, but should have come in youth.
"Moving on" seems too simplistic an answer for the What If question.
I'd wonder where my passion went for the goal and why I had it in the first place. Starting with the answers to those questions might be a better place to begin.
Argumentative people bore me. Really? You have nothing better to do than quarrel? That's why a lot of reality shows will never catch my interest. Like my life is so empty I need to sit and watch you fight? Please.
I would cry. Then wonder if I'm suffering from depression as that's one of the symptoms.
Then I would set it aside and do something else until it's not boring anymore.
~ JEN Garrett
I'm the same as JEN. I'll set it aside, ignore it and do something else like binge watch a favorite show. Or work on another project. Maybe, my passion for it might return.Kind of like absence makes the heart grow fonder.
I've had this happen with my blog and my writing in general. When it does, I know it's time to put the computer pen down and do something different.
Pioneer Women in Aviation A-Z
That's kind of scary actually.
I think I would be heartbroken!
I think that's why the 'shiny object' syndrome catches my time and attention. The boring tasks seem to get lost in the glitter.
Glad to find you here through A to Z.
