About the book:

Meanwhile an entire race of people is imprisoned in that single day, their lives
skipping over the other seven days of the week like stones skimming across a
pond. Throw in a bank robbery, mysterious tattoos, normal middle school angst,
and a human sacrifice ritual atop a Mexican pyramid, and I hope I’ve given
readers an adventure to remember!

I have this book. I keep meaning to start it (and then pass it on to my nephew).
I can attest to the fact that The Eighth Day is a fabulous book - better yet? It's sequel releases this month and it's just as good (I got an early peek...).
Wow, this sounds great! I read a series by Scott Westerfeld called Midnighters. It's been a while, but I think it was a secret hour every night where they had to fight demons with weapons that had names of 13 letters. I really enjoyed it and I bet I'd like this one.
