An Empty Cage

This week on Unicorn Bell we’re writing stories together. Okay, it’s more of that game… What’s that game called? You know the one. I start the story, and you continue it. Anyway, feel free to go back to yesterday’s post and continue with that story. Or, you can jump in with today’s new beginning…

They stood around, mouths agape. No one should have been able to escape that cage, yet there it stood, empty.

The Voice continued, "Two Hundred Years ago, Humans were kept in these cages on their way to the Andromeda Slave Market. Only five groups that escaped were known to have survived. You are the direct descendants of those survivors."

In the back, furthest from the empty cage, Miri pulled her sleeve further down to cover the butterfly-shaped birthmark on her wrist. Mother had said to never let an Andromedan slave trader see it.

Standing across from Miri, the Head Guard saw the random movement.

There was something about the look in her eyes that let him know she was hiding something.

He told one of the Minions to bring that girl to him.

Miri sensed something, but before she could run, she was grabbed.
