At the heart of much speculative fiction (and fiction in general) is a question. What if? Occasionally, I like to throw one out there and see what you make of it. Do with it as you please. If a for-instance is not specified, feel free to interpret that instance as you wish. And if you find this becomes a novel-length answer, I'd appreciate a thank you in the acknowledgements ;)
What if your very favorite thing in the world suddenly became the most tedious thing you can imagine? (Suddenly, as in you planned it yesterday, but today the idea of it bores you to tears.)

Thankfully, not much bores me. If I don't like something, I don't do it. It's a wisdom that comes with age, but should have come in youth.

ReplyDeleteI'd wonder where my passion went for the goal and why I had it in the first place. Starting with the answers to those questions might be a better place to begin.
Argumentative people bore me. Really? You have nothing better to do than quarrel? That's why a lot of reality shows will never catch my interest. Like my life is so empty I need to sit and watch you fight? Please.

I'm the same as JEN. I'll set it aside, ignore it and do something else like binge watch a favorite show. Or work on another project. Maybe, my passion for it might return.Kind of like absence makes the heart grow fonder.
