It's All About You

Lovely readers, did the first three days of prompts help you get back into writing? I hope so. This is such a busy time of year that it's easy to let those hard earned writing habits slip. And no one would really blame you for that. However, it sure makes January hard.

What is it about the first three months of the year that make them seem SO long? I don't know about you, but it becomes a chore for me to motivate myself to do anything. Curling up in bed and hibernating is so much more appealing. Maybe my animal self is a bear. That would explain a lot.

As we press on through the busy holidays, growing ever closer to the doldrums of winter, what kind of things help you stay motivated?

io9 has great story prompts about once a week too if people want to take a look at them. I love io9.

I love writing prompts! I even got my sister, mom, and aunt to participate in a little writing exercise over the holiday. It was fun and they loved it!

As for the first three months of the year, it would help if they weren't so bloody cold. Winter makes me stiff. I think I may be a bear, too; curling up in a nice cozy cocoon for three months might be nice!

:) Bears of the world Unite! We should start a petition to shut everything down for at least one of those months so we can hibernate. Think the government would go for that?

Me too! It's a great site and has such fascinating posts.

I just stick to my schedule. I make sure my schedule is one that I can manage, and so I manage to do it.

I kind of like January. I get to pull out my sweater. The one I knit. And I get to wear it. (Not cold enough the rest of the year.)

The beginning of the year is tax season for me and that always makes me want to hide under the covers! *shudders* But I stay motivated by setting small writing goals and rewarding myself.

Great advice Liz! I need to set a new schedule now that I know the kid's school times.

Ooo, tax season! I'd shudder too. Are you an accountant?

I like the idea of small goals too. Kind of a keep the motor purring until you can shift into a higher gear. Nice!
