Like it's 1975

Today is a National Holiday!  What? You’ve never heard of this holiday? You must live under a rock.

It’s My Birthday!

And in celebration of my Birthday I’m putting out this simple writing prompt.

Show me some character development. Show me this person going through something. How life can lift you up or knock you down.

Don’t think too hard about it. Just a simple couple of paragraphs in the comments. Here’s your prompt:

“All she wanted for her birthday was a beautiful dinner out with _________. However, …”

All she wanted for her birthday was a beautiful dinner out with some live music playing in the background. However, around noontime, Jonathan called and announced he'd been ordered to fly to Albuquerque for an 8:00 meeting the next morning. She slammed the phone down before her quivering voice could betray her disappointment. Wiping her tearing eyes, she sat thinking, then drummed her fingers on her desk. Perhaps she should buy two pints of Ben and Jerry's New York Double Fudge Chunk and take them to bed with her.

But then she remembered the new restaurant, Harry Christians. She'd been wanting to go forever, but Jonathan didn't like fusion food, and besides he thought it was too expensive. Dragging her purse out from under the desk, she dug out her I-phone, found the number and dialed the restaurant.

"Could I make a reservation for 8:00?" she asked the deep-voiced male picked up the phone.

"Yes, Ma'am. How many in your party?"

"Only one. But that's not going to stop me from making sure it's an amazing night."

HAPPY, HAPPY BELATED BIRTHDAY!!
*confetti all around*

"All she wanted for her birthday was a beautiful dinner out without the elves showing up. However, in they trooped singing and throwing green leaves like confetti. Too bad they couldn't tell the difference between oak leaves and poison ivy."
